phpMyAdmin 3.1.5 released

Posted by phorner On May 17, 20093 COMMENTS

phpMyAdminphpMyAdmin 3.1.5 has been released. It is a bugfix-only version. Among the changes is a fix for PHP 5.3 compatibility.

For those of you who may not already know about phpMyAdmin, it is a free software tool written in PHP intended to handle the administration of MySQL.

Since version phpMyAdmin 3.x, support for PHP 4 has been dropped (as the official developers for PHP no longer support PHP 4 or earlier). If you still use PHP 4 on your server, then you can still use the phpMyAdmin 2.x series.

jQuery Image Gallery that uses mouse gestures

Posted by phorner On May 17, 20091 COMMENT

Here is an interesting take on navigating through an image gallery. jQuery-Gestures-Image Gallery uses mouse gesture combinations to perform certain navigation functionality. For example, holding the mouse button and moving the mouse to the left will go to the previous image in the gallery, holding the mouse button and moving the mouse to the right will go to the next image in the gallery. You can even link together various direction combinations to perform special functionality.

The examples on the jQuery-Gestures-Image Gallery page really help to show the possibilities. An intriguing idea. Will be interesting to see if this type of interaction gets adopted by the main stream.

I often use Skype to talk to clients or people who I work with on jobs. It’s often hard to remember every little detail discussed. Well now there is no need to worry. Skype Call Recorder solves that problem.

Skype Call Recorder records P2P Skype calls, SkypeOut calls, as well as calls to Skype Online numbers and conference calls and saves them as MP3 format. It monitors your skype calls and starts recording automatically when the conversation is started. It can also record several simultaneous calls (eg. one active while others on hold) in separate files.

Skype Call Recorder

All you have to do is install the application, give it access to your client details and that’s it.

This is invaluable in the event that there is any dispute with a client over what was said or agreed upon, or in the event that you have forgotten what you were supposed to do exactly. Just a simple replay of the MP3 will clear things up.

If you are like me and have no idea what colour schemes look good or not, then this small Flash application is for you. ColorToy 2.0 allows you to enter your own RGB values, and it will display eight other colours that can be used in conjunction with the colour you specify. Great for creating themes, or for those like me without any graphical skills whatsoever.

ColorToy 2.0

If you don’t have a particular colour that you want to base your design on, or you are just searching for inspiration, you can click on the “Random” button and it will randomly generate a colour for you, along with the accompanying matching colours.
