Microsoft have officially confirmed that May 5 is the official public release date for the Windows 7 Release Candidate.
“I’m pleased to share that the RC is on track for April 30th for download by MSDN and TechNet subscribers. Broader, public availability will begin on May 5th,” wrote Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc in a corporate blog.
This follows news of a possible Windows XP virtualisation mode which allows Windows 7 to run older software that doesn’t work on Vista or Windows 7 natively. The “WinXP mode” has not been confirmed yet by Microsoft, so consider it a rumour at this stage.

Using Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit, my computer automatically rebooted while playing a game. After the boot, the display was “pixelated,” the colors were false, the characters and numbers were often “outlined’ in red, and it appears that alternate vertical lines are missing — everything else seems to be working OK. Hi all, I received this message when i tried to look at the local group policy setting on one of my machines (Windows XP SP3), which is joined in my domain. “Failed to open group policy object on this computer. You may not have appropriate rights. Details: Unspecified error.” note that I am local admin. It’s all started when I was troublshooting WSUS connectivity and i looked at the WinsdowsUpdate.log, the WSUS server was & WSUS status server , I tried to force the domain GP by using GPupdate /force, it went fine and asked to log off, but nothing changed in the WindowsUpdate.log still . Then i tried to look at the local policy setting. I searched the internet nothing related to my case. Thanks in advance for advising.

hello,i have been trying to creat a bootable usb key with winPE using the instruction in here (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l…92(WS.10).aspx). unfortunatly it seems something is missing (other than adding the boot.wim in \sources\) and the key simeply doesnt boot. seems the bios recognize the media. also i have previous experience with bootable usb key on that machine but with freenas. they usb key is a verbatime store’n'go 8go #44093. biggest question is what am i missing to turn that usb key in a bootable device ?
